In an interesting incident of prediction on the results of Lok Sabha Election 2014, senior BJP activist and former school Principal from Kurseong, Akhilesh Kumar Chaturvedi, had sent a letter to BJP prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi about his party’s landslide win three days ahead of the counting day.

Chaturvedi was a teacher and later Principal of the Pushparani Roy Memorial High School in Kurseong as well as one of the senior activists of the BJP in the hills. He reportedly sent a congratulatory message in a letter to Narendra Modi on May 13 2014, three days before the poll results were announced. In the letter sent by speed post to Modi’s Ahmedabad address, he addressed Modi as Prime Minister and congratulated him for winning 335 seats in the Lok Sabha Election.

Notably, on May 16 when the election results were announced, the Modi-led BJP and its alliance had indeed won 335 Lok Sabha seats. Hence, his accurate prediction has become a topic of discussion in Kurseong in this year’s amazing electoral battle, which has been swept by the BJP. (EOIC)
