Temperature in the Darjeeling hills have come down sharply since Friday following the season’s first snowfall in Sandakphu. Sources from Sandakphu informed the snowfall measured around two to three inches in the area, bringing down the mercury level significantly.
The highest place in the state was covered in a thick blanket of snow and fog, affecting movements of tourist vehicles. Even the majority of locals chose to stay indoors bring normal life to a halt.
The tourists visiting Sandakphu were seen enjoying the snowfall. Sources said as the weather has grown colder, it is likely the place will witness heavy snowfall in the coming days. The last snowfall in the hills was witnessed in January 11 earlier this year in Tiger Hill, Ghoom and other areas.
