Siliguri admn sets up task force to regulate vegetable prices

The Siliguri administration has set up a task force to regulate the vegetable prices at the Siliguri sub-division market.
The task force comprising of the agri-marketing department, legal metrology, Siliguri Regulated Market Committee, Enforcement Branch, Siliguri deputy magistrate would visit the markets from tomorrow to monitor the vegetable prices.
“We received the complaints that the vegetables are being sold at higher at higher rates. We have set up the task force to check the steep prices of the vegetables in various markets. It would ensure that the vegetables should be sold at proper rates. The rate charts have to display at all the entry points of the markets from tomorrow,” said the Siliguri Sub-divisional officer (SDO), Dr Deepap Priya P.
The SDO held a meeting with those departments over the issue. “The raids will be continued till prices come under control. The task force would also monitor that the middlemen cannot make any profit under this situation. The vegetable prices should be same in all the markets in the sub-division,” she added.
