Siliguri, 7 August
The GJMM delegation now camping in Delhi since 2 August met the BJP leader, Mr L K Advani in New Delhi today. According to the party’s general secretary, Mr Roshan Giri, the BJP veteran had assured them that he would raise the issue of Gorkhaland in the Parliament at an appropriate time.
However, Mr Advani has not cleared whether his party would raise the matter at the ongoing session of the Parliament.
The six-member GJMM delegation has so far met several Congress leaders, including senior Union ministers, and some BJP leaders. They also met the NCP leader, Mr Sharad Pawar.
However, the GJMM president, Mr Bimal Gurung’s Delhi visit hangs in the balance as he has not yet obtained any appointment with the Congress vice president, Mr Rahul Gandhi.
“The date for Mr Gurung to leave for Delhi would be decided after the appointment is fixed,” said a senior GJMM leader.
